The Walking Dead Season 6 Finale Theory of Who Met Lucille

The Walking Dead sent fans of the series into chaos after the writers of the internationally hit series left one of the biggest cliff hangers in television history.  Fans will have to wait out the fate behind the lethal blows of Lucille until October 2016. This, of course, created social media buzz with multiple theories and ideas of who was on the receiving end of the barbed wire baseball bat. So jumping on that fandom band wagon, we have come up with some of our own theories.

***SPOILERS DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE SEASON 6 FINALE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED***

Theory #1 “The Eeny, meeny, miny, moe game”

Katrina and I have been trying to figure who was in the line up according to Negan’s start and completion of the children’s counting game “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.” Let’s face it for those of us that used to do this rhyme as a kid, this simple nursery rhyme will forever change our point of view of it. It may even force the rhyme itself to be band from our own children’s learning tools after the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead.

So let’s get into the analysis of the starting point of “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe” shall we? Negan begins the rhyme first with Rick Grimes and going to his right (viewers left on screen), however Negan skips Daryl to go was is assumed to be Rosita and than back to Daryl on “Tiger” than points Lucille quickly back to what we assume is Glenn. We believe that Negan goes back out of order to  Rick and following the skips in the rhyme the best we could. Those on the right of Rick are at risk and we hear female screams close to the selected victim. Abraham had Maggie and Michonne beside him, with a close Rosita in view.

Theory #2 The Last point shot of Lucille

We froze the last scene before Negan delivers the fatal blow. Lucille looks to be pointed at Abraham. The producer of the show, Scott Gimple, said that during Talking Dead [that aired right after The Walking Dead] “The end of the story is what people saw. And when we reveal who was on the receiving end there, that’s going to be the start of another story. The kickback effects from that, what it makes everyone into, how people react, how the world changes for everyone, that’s the next part of the story.”

Scott Gimple’s tad of a hint on the subject, makes us believe that the character could be a vital role to the core cast or possibly even one of the four. This helps validate our thoughts on our two main suspects, Glenn and Abraham. However seeing how the storyline of fan favorites Maggie and Glenn follows the comics closely, We are thinking they may stay true to Glenn’s comic end.

Why Abraham?

In the comics, as some know, his fate was supposed to be the one handed out to Denise in episode 14 of Season 6. This makes us believe that Abraham is fair game to be killed off, not to mention the touching moment he has with Sasha in the RV about wanting children and finally finding a life in the apocalyptic world. After that touching moment, he had that heart to heart with Eugene to enact the plan to detour The Saviors from The Grimes Group. Lastly, when Abraham comes face to face with Lucille for the first time at glance, he proudly straightens up unafraid to take the beating from Negan.

Why Glenn?

Last but not least the popular theory to the case of “Who was it?”: Glenn Rhee, as fans of the comic know he was the one that received this fate. Glenn was the one chosen by Negan to be the example when identical lines straight from the comics are heard in the final three minutes of the episode. We are hoping that Glenn is not the one that met those stomach turning final blows by Lucille. He is a fan favorite, but, with the storyline following the comics so closely, Glenn could be the one that fans witnessed, first hand, his final moments.

Other Possibilities:

  • Rick Grimes-a sound bite is going around social media with a more amplified background vocal. When listening to it, we hear Carl saying “Dad.” But then again the clip could be fake.
  • Carl Grimes- A photo is going through social media that looks to be the outline of Carl’s Sheriff hat casted on Negan before delivering the first blow. Though this may be a stretch, we wouldn’t put it past the writers and Scott Grimple to switch up the series with an unanticipated death.
