The Walking Dead 6×10 “The Next World”

I want to start with a warning! If you are not caught up on The Walking Dead then: A) What’s wrong with you go catch up! and B) This is going to contain spoilers so you better stop reading!

Although there wasn’t a whole lot going on in this episode, it was still great; we saw some character’s arcs blossom, and some beautiful moments between characters as well as meet a new character that I believe will have a big impact on the group.twd0610-0544Maggie approaches Enid asking her where she goes when she wanders off. Enid responds with “no where”. Maggie then tells Enid that she rescued Glen, and she rescued her and that maybe there are better places for her to go than no where. I loved this scene because it was a mixture of Maggie being motherly and/or sisterly to Enid.

twd0610-0626It seems that a good amount of time has passed from the horrific events that took place in the previous episode.  We see this when the show begins by showing a picture of Carl who has his eye patch onand is smiling while holding Judith. There’s a happy scene with Rick, Michonne and Carl which makes things seem like they are becoming normal.

Rick and Daryl go out on a supply run, and are also looking for sorghum, which is a grain that is most efficient in conversion of solar energy and use of water. On their run, they find a truck full of supplies.  They leave their car behind and take the truck instead. Daryl makes another stop as he sees an old soda/candy machine tipped over (Denise had a special request for “pop” as she had overheard Tara saying something about it while she slept).

twd0610-0914They flip over the machine by hooking it to the truck, but before they get into the machine they are startled by a man running into them. He tells them that there are walkers on his trail, and that they could get the jump on them if they hurry. Rick asks, before the man runs off, what his name is and he turns and says Paul Rovia but his friends used to call him Jesus (due to the beard and long hair).

twd0610-1078He takes off and seconds later we hear what sounds like gun shots. Daryl and Rick go to check it out only to find Jesus had lit firecrackers to distract them so he could steal their supply truck.

twd0610-1205They quickly track him down after a bit of running due to Jesus getting a flat tire. They flank him and we see Jesus is a skilled, fast and efficient fighter. However, we have Daryl. The two take him down, and loosely tie his hands and feet, telling him he can break free but giving them enough time to get away. Or so they thought. They reach a farm and upon arrival scrappy Jesus somehow managed to get on the roof of the truck. While there, they have quite the quirky scene that left you laughing, and then crying a little on the inside when they lose the truck in the lake.

twd0610-2303twd0610-2306During this scene, Jesus did have the opportunity to kill Daryl by either letting the walker behind him bite him or shooting him. Instead, he chose to tell Daryl to duck so he could shoot the walker behind him. After doing so, Daryl punches him, takes his gun back, and pulls Jesus out of the truck. He accidentally hits neutral which sends the truck into the lake. Jesus gets knocked out by the door of the truck as it rolled backwards, which leaves Rick and Daryl in a predicament: leave him behind, or take him back to Alexandria?

twd0610-2879They decide to bring him with them and take him to the infirmary where they leave a note and water for him.

During this time, Michonne sees Patrick wandering off into the woods with a shovel on his back. She follows him asking him why he is out there, which he says he likes to walk after his shift.

twd0610-1313twd0610-1349They pass Carl and Enid, who they don’t see. A short time after an unseen walker attacks Carl and Enid. Carl tells Enid to go back home as he then lures the walker over to where Michonne and Patrick are. That’s when we find out that the walker is Deanna, and that Patrick thought he saw her a while back, and that he wanted to be the one to kill her and bury her properly.

At the end of the day, Carl is holding Judith on their porch telling her about the stars, and Michonne comes out and very mother like tells Carl that he shouldn’t have been out there, that it’s dangerous. She asks him why he lured Deanna to them. Carl tells her that it was the right thing to do.  He continued to say that it needed to be someone that loved Deanna to kill her and bury her, and that he would do the same for Michonne. It was a very touching scene especially because we have seen their relationship blossom since they traveled to Terminus together.

twd0610-3099This leads us into the moment of the episode! After an exhausting day for both Michonne and Rick, they both recline on the couch in the living room. Neither really want to talk about each other’s days as they were both exhausted. Rick give a pack of mints to Michonne’s.  She had asked for tooth paste before Rick went out on the run with Daryl, but the only thing he was able to get were these mints. He tells her he had the tooth paste, but now it is at the bottom of a lake in which she reply’s, “Oh, so you had a day!” They both smile, and then Michonne closes her hand on Rick’s. They look at each other for a moment and then kiss, and then passionately kiss! (All the Richonne fans rejoice!)

twd0610-3508twd0610-3633The kiss turns into something more as the next scene is the two of them sleeping in the same bed naked with a sheet barely covering them. As they are sleeping we hear someone calling out to Rick. The two of them jump up out of bed buck naked grabbing their weapons, and we see Jesus standing at the end of the bed telling Rick that he needs to show him something.
