‘Shadowhunters’ 3×15 Review & Thoughts: “To the Night Children”

Shadowhunters final season is nearing the end. Episode 15 of season 3 is a turning point in the series, tying loose ends and reaching character arches. Here is my review and thoughts on, “To the Night Children.”

Tensions between the vampires, Shadowhunters, and werewolves are at an all-time high. Heidi is spinning her web of lies to manipulate power and vanquish her enemies. She betrays Clan leaders (including Rafael) by reporting to Alec of their part in killing the werewolves.

Looking for a witness to the slaughter at Jade Wolf and to free Luke. Maia and Simon team up to find answers about the attack and the person responsible. With Magnus’s help, there are able to wake up sleeping beauty, Nora to retrieve a statement to convict Heidi. However, Maia is one to take action and sniff out the problem and eliminate it. Maia’s actions cause a rift between Simon and the Shadowhunters. While Maia and Alec agree no rules were broken by killing Heidi. Simon reminds Maia that there are rules and they are implemented for a reason.

Those same rules remind Alec that being Head of the New York Institute he must lead by example. Having Magnus living with him in the institute walls goes against Shadowhunter rules. However, there are exceptions to rules and Alec makes one to Magnus about finding a place together to move into away from Institute.

Overall Thoughts

I am glad they wrapped up Heidi’s storyline with a clear resolution. Allowing the remaining storylines, especially with Jonathan and Clary to heat up. The discovery of Lilith’s rune is more than just a binding spell. But more so a bounding spell that acts like magnets for Clary and Jonathan. Pulling them together, pulling them into the darkness together.
