Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark Coming to Theaters

The popular cult classic book series revolving around creepy folklore and urban legends, Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark by Alvin Schwartz is in the stages of development. Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro has been developing a big screen adaptation of the series for some time and now has been given the green light.

The movie will be directed by André øvredal (Autopsy of Jane Doe, The Tunnel and, Troll Hunter) from a script co-written by del Toro, Daniel Hageman, Kevin Hageman Marcus Dunstan, Patrick Melton, and John August. Production is scheduled to begin this summer in Toronto and Ontario. With rumored cast Javier Botet, Austin Abrams, Zoe Margaret Colletti (Stella Micheals), Michael Garza (Ramón Morales), Gabriel Rush, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn.

I grew up loving these “scary” stories and I am intrigued how they will translate on the big screen. The premise of the film revolves around a group of kids that are trying to solve the mysterious macabre deaths in their town.
