Disney The Lion King Live Action Trailer review

November 24th, a day for food and family for many Americans, also brought a much anticipated teaser for the live action Lion King.  Here are my thoughts on the new trailer.

Every person has a favorite animated Disney film that just made their childhoods so happy.  For some it involved mermaids and others Beasts.  For me though, my all time favorite Disney film has always been The Lion King.  And it seems I was not alone.  Being the 35th highest-grossing film of all time, this movie has touched the hearts of people around the globe.  And now it has a live action remake.  Before I get into my review, check out the teaser trailer below:

As seen from the trailer, this live action will have an impressive cast and Director.  Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Jungle Book), this movie looks visually stunning. And I am super excited for the cast.  James Earl Jones returns to voice Mufasa and there are several new voices to the cast like Chiwetel Ejiofor (Serenity, Twelve Years a Slave) as Scar, Donald Glover (Solo, The Martian) as Simba, Seth Rogen (Super Bad, Pineapple Express) as Pumbaa and even Beyonce as Nala.  And the impressive list of actors/actresses that are apart of this continues on.

Now I will admit that I was a little wary of this live action.  How can you make a story that centers on animals as a live action work well?  It would have to be fully CGI or they would have to work with live animals which can not be easy especially when those live animals are lions.  That left CGI and we have all seen movies where bad CGI can really ruin a good movie.

But as seen by the picture above, either they used a real lion or that is some really good graphics.  Either way, it looks good.  And the Pride Rock scene with the sweeping music just made me so excited.  Overall, the trailer and movie looks spectacular.  They literally had scene for scene from the animated movie.  And hearing James Earl Jones voice talking as Mufasa as we see the Wildebeest scene just brought a tear to my eye.

Overall, I am now on board to see this movie and can’t wait until July 19th of 2019!
