The world’s best hackers are about to race against time and old foes to stop Rubicon to save the world. Will Team Arrow be able to stop Darhk and his power up of magic? Will a loss of someone prove to be the demise of the entire world? Some questions fans of Arrow have, leading up to the season 4 finale next week, but first some quick thoughts about episode 22 titled “Lost in the Flood.”

***This article contains SPOILERS for those still catching up on the season.Read at your own discretion***

Damien Darhk

More powerful than before, Damien continues his plan for Genesis. Former hacker and ex-lover Cooper Sullivan, is now apart of H.I.V.E. Darhk is using Cooper Sullivan to hopefully out smart Felicity and her Father (Noah) to keep them out of Rubicon, and to bring about Genesis. However, the plan will take a backseat after Darhk learns of his wife’s death at the hands of Anarchy. His selfish need for power blinded him when his family needed him the most and ultimately is the cause to Ruvé’s death. Darhk is unaware that his daughter is alive and safe thank to the help of Team Arrow. This lack of knowledge proves to be detrimental not only to Star City but to the demise of Dark as Darhk now wants to burn the whole world down by his plan. I guess we will see in the finale just how dark Darhk will go and if he will succeed.

Team Arrow:

Thea tries to grieve the loss of her boyfriend, Alex.  However, she is taken away by her own father and placed on, what Malcolm likes to say is, “a timeout” after she loses Anarchy. Her brother, Oliver (Green Arrow), is able to track her down and learns exactly where she is being kept. After some questioning of Overwatch’s (Felicity Smoak) location orders and technology, he is able to find Star City’s new ‘Mount Weather.’ Oliver quickly discovers something a little “off” about Thea as his plan to rescue her turns into more of a capture.

Oliver learns that Thea was drugged by her own father, and made, once again, to do his bidding. We can all recall the last time this happened; Sara Lance (Canary) was killed by her hand. I am growing a little tired of Malcolm Merlin and his less than fatherly antics. I hope eventually the whole father and daughter storyline involving Malcolm will end next episode. Maybe Malcolm will go out doing an act of fatherly love and selflessness, but than again who am I fooling?

Arrow and Diggle are able to escape, but now must come up with a plan to save the residents of the H.I.V.E ark and stop Darhk. Arrow must show people hope which is something that he has been failing at doing most of the season. This theme seems to be pretty evident throughout the season with one example being Oliver’s failed attempt run for Mayoral office. This time we wonder just what Oliver will do to win the people of Star City back from Darhk. As Darhk has promised the people hope for a new world under his image.  However, there is a cost to his plan.

Felicity Smoak

Is feeling the guilt from her choice to place a missile in Havenbrook. She has little time to allow herself to relax as there is another 24 hour doomsday stamp on her hands.  Her parents constant bickering this episode did not help the timeline to save the world as her mother is less than thrilled with Noah being apart of her life. Felicity reveals that she works with Green Arrow, in hopes to lessen the tension. However, the tension with her mother only builds as she sees the connection between father and daughter over their intelligence.

“The two of the worlds best hackers side by side”, as Curtis puts it, are working to help crack into Rubicon to stop Genesis. Curtis suggests using a smart phone and their skills to create a code to cause Rubicon to shut itself off. Just as there was hope for the world’s best hackers to shut down Rubicon, Cooper Sullivan breaks into their encryption to freeze them out of Rubicon. However, Cooper is no match for Felicity and Noah as they are able to give him a taste of his own medicine. They break back in to, not only, shut the third class hacker Cooper down, but Rubicon as well.

Notable Moments

  • Felicity learns that her father never truly left her behind. He was always keeping an eye over her.  Her mother made him look like the bad parent when in fact she was the one that was less apart of her life than Felicity’s father.
