American Horror Story closed the finale chapter of “The Roanoke Nightmare” where we  follow the life of the acclaimed Roanoke Nightmare cast before their fate. Here are some highlights from Chapter 10.

Lee Meet Lana

After being the lone survivor of the ill fated series, “Return To Roanoke.” Lee finds herself in the hot seat on various occasions: from being arraigned and acquitted for the murders of  Mason and The Roanoke Nightmare cast to landing her on Lana Winter’s primetime show for an interview that captivated the nation. Lee was portrayed as a murderer after the massacre and video confession to the murder of her ex-husband, Mason. Lee was hated by diehard fans of The Roanoke Nightmare series, but no more than her own daughter Flora.

During Lee’s interview with Lana, she is reminded about the murder trial where Flora was a witness. Flora recalled the night where she was in the woods with Priscilla. When she saw her parents arguing about custody, Mason threatened that Lee would never get to see Flora again. Lee in anger bashed Mason’s head in with a rock, and all the while Flora was watching in the woods with her ghostly friend. Lee is a smart woman and played against her daughter’s testimony by claiming an over active imagination. The jury acquitted Lee of the charges.  However, Flora disowned her mother with a looming custody battle.

Lana Winter’s drops the news of Flora’s disappearance and claims of child abduction. Lee is caught off guard by the accusations and demands to know where Flora is. The interview is cut short after the last surviving Polk family member shoots his way into the interview to kill Lee. Lana is able to distract the Polk boy until help arrives which allows Lee to slip out and go to where Flora felt safe, with Priscilla at the Roanoke farmhouse.

A Deal

Lee returns to the Farmhouse to seek our Flora when she comes across another reality show, Spirit Chaser. The crew would soon meet the deadly hauntings of the farmhouse. This allows Lee to be alone with Flora. Flora is not thrilled to see her mother and plans to wait out the blood moon to be killed. In death she will become a ghost like her friend Priscilla and together they will burn down the farm house and hide away from The Butcher.

Lee intervenes in her child’s plan to become like the lost souls of Roanoke and offers her life instead claiming that Priscilla needs a mommy to keep her safe. Lee pleads to Flora that she leave the house and never return on a blood moon. Priscilla than takes a gun to kill Lee and together they burn down the farmhouse. Flora is rescued and whisked away from the house in the back of a police car, where she sees her mother and Priscilla hand in hand in the distance.

Writer’s Review

Overall I enjoyed this Season.  After episode 5, I felt the needed to take a mental break as the graphic nature of the content was too much at times. The storyline was well developed and the style of filming in a docuseries played with audience.  However, I was hoping the true identity of the witch would be revealed. The season finale ending left me wanting more, as the last scene seemed to end abruptly. The Roanoke Nightmare felt like a nightmare to go through and has proven to be the creepiest Season yet. Wonder what Ryan Murphy has up his sleeves for Season 7.
