Shadowhunters: Where’s My Parabatai

Shadowhunters: Where’s My Parabatai

Shadowhunters is back with new looks for the cast, special effects and bringing that fight back to Season 2. Leaving fans on a bit of a cliff hanger heading into the season with more dark undertones. Here are our highlights from the Season 2 premiere, “The Guilty Blood.”

Jace and Valentine

The episode picks up right where Season 1 left off, where Jace ships off with Valentine’s makeshift army of Shadowhunters. Jace feels remorse for the hundreds of failures to become Valentine’s breed of Shadowhunters. The camera zooming out to reveal the countless dead bodies sprawled over the deck of the ship.

Jace’s attention is taken when he hears a familiar voice and is shocked to see Clary coming to his rescue. However nothing is quite as it seems after the two encounter a resurrecting Valentine over and over. Until Jace is lead to the holding cell of downworlders and Valentine’s experiments trapped in hanging cages. Valentine reveals himself from Clary’s form to make Jace aware that he was testing his son’s allegiance.

Jace is tortured and beaten by Valentine’s henchmen until Jace decides to play nice with his father. Together they go back into the city and crash a vampire den. Another test by Valentine to break Jace’s obedience to The Clave as a shadowhunter. In which Jace kills a vampire despite her surrender to The Clave. The break in his humanity seen by Clary and Simone. Just before they intervene Jocelyn’s plan to kill Jace and Valentine. Thanks to Clary Jace is able flee back through the portal with his wounded father.

No Apologies Malec

Tensions are high at the institute as word of Jace joining Valentine with the possession of The Mortal Cup whirls around. Maryse Lightwood dethrones Lydia from handling The Clave affairs for the institute and places Victor Aldertree in charge of the affairs. Victor quickly places a bounty of “Dead or Alive,” on Jace. These new developments and additions do not sit well with Clary, Isabelle and most importantly, Alec.

Alec throughout the episode struggles to sort out his parabatai bound and The Claves ideals. He fought with his mother, his sister, members of the institute and Magnus. Alec finds himself apologizing more than once to the warlock as the two have yet to define their relationship after that kiss.

Magnus’s words are simple to Alec, “Don’t push me away.” Leaving the dust a little settled for the two of them as Alec continues his mission to bring back his brother. However we get the feeling that some new troubles and harm will come ahead for these two that may pull them apart before they can even begin.

A Little Demon Boy

The biggest revelation this episode was between Valentine and Jace. Where Valentine reveals that while Jocelyn was pregnant with Jace, he inserted demon blood into the womb and that Jace has Demon blood in him. Valentine claims he did this to bring an end to downworlders as their darkness is never truly tamed.
