June is upon us and judging from the list of movies releases, June may be a surprising summer box office month with some potential heavy hitters. June’s list of summer releases cover all movie categories from book adaptations, dramas, thrillers, action,  fantasy, and yes even another game turned motion picture. Here is our list of June movies we are looking forward to. 

#8 The Shallows

The Shallow is thriller about a surfer, Nancy (Blake Lively),  who is attacked while surfing a secluded beach by a great white shark and take refuge on a large rock, while sustaining injuries from the attack. Though she is only 200 yards from her survival, getting there proves to be a challenge, as a taunting great white shark stalks her amongst the shallows. This thriller of cat and mouse is sure to leave fans on the edge of their seats and perhaps the next great Jaws of our generation. The shallows opens June 29th.  Will you brave the water?

#7 Independence Day Resurgence

After Independence Day became a cult classic that will stand the test of time amongst event movie genre, the second chapter delivers global war once again with the Alien antagonist, that looks to pack more of a punch.  Despite the the familiar storyline from the previous blockbuster, Independence Day Resurgence brings back some old faces and new ones to save the world.  Who knows?  Maybe a special cameo by Will Smith will make the cut, and what is more American than watching Independence Day Resurgence? The battle to save Earth will be on June 24th.

#6 Now You See Me 2

The Four Horsemen [Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan] return for a second magical adventure. The second movie will pick up one year after outwitting the FBI, corporate funders and those looking to expose them all while winning the public’s adoration. The illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Marby [Daniel Radcliffe], a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all. Prepare for the best act yet on June 10th.

#5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows 

The sequel to the previous Turtles’s film packs in the action with a fan favorite to make their big screen debut. In TMNT: Out of the Shadows, the Turtles will come into conflict with T.C.R.I and head scientist, Dr. Baxter Stockman, and of course The Shredder. Shredder is working with Dr. Baxter Stockman to create his own mutants (Bebop and Rocksteady) to even the playing field. But they aren’t the only baddies to bring the Turtles trouble.  Looks like they will need all the help they can get from April O’Neil (Meagan Fox), Master Splinter, Vern Fenick and the vigilante Casey Jones. This movie will be good for the kids and family, and sure to pack the laughs and family fun action. TMNT: Out of the Shadows hits theaters June 3rd.

#4 The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Experiment 

Reprising their roles as Lorraine [Vera Farmiga] and Ed Warren [Patrick Wilson], the duo shares one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations yet. Just when you thought the first installment was terrifying enough, the Warren’s travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits. By doing so their own lives are in jeopardy as they learn the real horror behind their investigation. This is one not to see alone and will continue to be the best thriller series of our generation. The investigation starts June 10th. Rated R.

#3 Warcraft 

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. Two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins the war of power and everyone fights for something. This movie is based on the widely popular multi-player game World of Warcraft. Will you be there for the epic battle on June 10th?

#2 Finding Dory

One of the most anticipated movies to hit theaters is about one forgetful fish Dory [voiced by Ellen DeGeneres]. Dory suddenly remembers that she has a family out there who may be looking for her. The trio [Marlin, Nemo and Dory] take off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute, a rehabilitation center and aquarium. In an effort to find her mom [voice of Diane Keaton] and dad [voiced of Eugene Levy], Dory enlists the help of three of the MLI’s most intriguing residents: Hank [voiced by of Ed O’Neill)] an octopus who frequently gives employees the slip, Bailey [voiced of Ty Burrell], a beluga whale who is convinced his biological sonar skills are on the fritz, and Destiny [voiced of Kaitlin Olson], a nearsighted whale shark. Will Dory be reunited with her family? Looks like you may need to “just keep swimming” to theaters on June 17th.

#1 Me Before You

Louisa “Lou” Clark (Clarke) has no clear direction in her life.  The quirky and creative 26-year-old goes from one job to the next in order to help her tight-knit family make ends meet. Unable to hold a job, she desperately takes a job at the local “castle,” to become a caregiver and companion to Will Traynor (Claflin), a wealthy young banker who became wheelchair bound in an accident. His accident has changed him completely from an adventurous soul to a now more cynical person, who has given up on life. That is until Lou determines to show him that life is worth living. Together they embark on a series of adventures and find their lives changing in ways neither one could have imagined.
