American Horror Story is never a stranger to gore, but tonight’s episode may have gone too far. Chapter 7 had viewers covering their eyes and rejoicing that the episode ended earlier. Here are our highlights from tonight’s episode.

Death

The death toll continues to rise in Roanoke when a crazed Agnes crashes the show claiming the lives of The Roanoke Nightmare creator, Sidney, and his crew. However, Agnes was not the only one to take lives this episode. In a shocking turn of events, Shelby catches her ex-husband Matt making love to Scathach in the basement. Shelby goes to the rescue Matt from his enchanted state and scares off the droid witch. That’s when things turn a little “Walking Dead,” as Shelby bashes Matt’s head in with a crowbar and kills him.

After the initial shock of what she did, Shelby is comforted by Dominic. He informs Shelby that Matt’s murder was caught on camera and she will need to turn herself in. Looks like the ghost, the Butcher, and Scathach are not the only things to worry about. We might need to keep our eyes on Shelby as the season progresses.

A Showdown

Viewers were eager this episode to learn more about The Real Butcher and Agnes. Fan theories swirled around that Agnes was possessed by the evil spirit of The Butcher. While other theories believed that The Real Butcher still stalked the farmhouse and Agnes was off her rocker. In tonight’s episode we see Agnes in a crazed state after killing Sidney and his production team. Agnes begins to show remorse for her actions, and then we hear Agnes talking in another language.

With the loss of light, Agnes becomes nervous and frantically lights a match. She becomes terrified when she finds herself surrounded by stick figures and leads viewers to believe that The Butcher is a completely different entity. Despite the fandom hope that The Butcher would be the triumphant return of Jessica Lange, viewers were shown The Real Butcher  and her mob of ghostly victims. Agnes becomes an instant fangirl of The Butcher and claims that she “just wanted to be on the show.” The Butcher  decided to play director and cut her portrayer off the show.

A Familiar Face

finn-jump

Blink and you may have missed Finn Wittrock’s debut in Season 6 where he plays one of the cannibal hillbilly Polk boys. Viewers were only teased to Finn’s face on screen, as much of his time was spent holding onto a camera phone while taunting Audrey, Lee and Monet. Ryan Murphy has stated that Finn’s role is the “most fucked up character of all time!” With the direction that The Roanoke Nightare is going, we are not surprised. The Roanoke Nightmare has been the most disturbing and goriest season yet in series history.

The Real Scathach

We also get our first glimpse of the real Scathach: could that be Jessica Lange or Taissa Farmiga? Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Taissa will be back this season, and we can’t wait to see just who she portrays. We get the feeling that Scathach will not be happy with the death of Matt. Hopefully we will learn Scathach’s true identity, but perhaps a little more of her role in The Roanoke Nightmare and just how bad of a witch she really is.
