5.”Black Lightning” – The CW

Series premiere January 16 

Jefferson Pierce, who retired from his superhero persona Black Lightning nine years ago after seeing the effects it had on his family, is forced to become a vigilante again when the rise of the local gang The One Hundred leads to increased crime and corruption in his community.

4 “9-1-1” – FOX

Series premiere January 3

“9-1-1” is a procedural drama created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk follows the lives of Los Angeles first responders including cops, paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers.

3. The Magicians – SYFY

Season 3 premiere January 10

2.”The Alienist” – TNT

Series premiere January 22 

The psychological thriller is set in 1896, when a series of gruesome murders hit New York City. A police commissioner, with the help of his secretary, gathers a team to investigate the mysterious murders in secret. The cast includes Luke Evans, Dakota Fanning and Daniel Brühl.

1.”The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” – FX

Season 2 premieres January 16 

“The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” will follow the story of the murder of iconic fashion designer Gianni Versace in 1997. He was shot in front of his Miami home by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Weeks later, Cunanan shot himself with the same gun he used to kill Versace.
