Howler Con 2015

I had the great honor of volunteering at Howler Con 2015 that took place November 6th-8th. I came into Howler not knowing what to expect. Taking my flight from my hometown in San Diego, I made my journey to Newark, New Jersey for the fandom con for the MTV hit series Teen Wolf.

Howler welcomed con goers on November 6th to registration, a tea party with the talented Daunt draws, fanfiction writers panel, fan merchandise/artwork at the vendors hall and welcome party. However, there were some set backs, as New Jersey had the Dread Doctors raining on their parade and killed the power. The hotel holding the convention was without power for roughly 2 hours. That did not put a damper on spirits: the Howler Con staff accommodated the con goers and kept registration flowing with ease.

Later that evening with power restored, con goers were able to let loose, reunite and have fun with friends at the welcome party. Filled with karoke, dancing and photo booth.

I don’t know about you, but I enjoyed the photobooth with friends [as seen above]. I loved meeting those I keep in contact with on social media through different social media outlets [teenwolffashions.tumblr.com, @teenwolffashionsblog on Instagram and @scarletnerd24 on Twitter]. Linden said it correctly, “Howler Con is like a giant sleep over.” He couldn’t be more correct. There were restless nights through out the con where I caught up with friends, made new ones and had endless talks about Teen Wolf.

Day 2 of Howler Con were filled with Panels, meet and greets with the cast, photo ops and a masquerade ball.  Howler Con 2015 had an amazing line up with Tyler Hoechilin [Derek Hale], Daniel Sharman [Isaac Lahey], Sinqua Walls [Vernon Boyd], Linden Ashby [Sheriff Stilinski], Melissa Ponzio [Melissa McCall], Ryan Kelley [Jordan Parrish] and first time con attendee Shelley Hennig [Malia Tate].

Con goers were treated to a variety of panels, kicking off Day 2 with Hale Pack Panel. Which consisted of Tyler, Daniel and Singua. I never laughed so hard in a panel. As one questioner mentioned during Q&A, they should have came with parental advisory for those younger con goers. I haves attached bellow tweets through out each panel of the con.

I would like to note that Shelley Hennig was not feeling good during the con. She was a trooper, and did not let con goers down, attending all con events and even dancing with fans during the masquerade party. I will say I fangirled when myself and friends talked her into a dance circle. I still am not over dancing with her and singing along to The Weekend’s ‘I can’t feel my face.”

Another personal highlight I had was with Singua Walls at the masquerade ball. He came off the stage and down to the crowd and began to dance with fans. During a Beyonce song, placing his arms around me and shaking me. I was confused as first and awkwardly shimmed and he did it again. Still not knowing what he wanted me to do he leaned towards to me, “Show me your moves.” In which I began to dance, thank goodness I had some moves that he approved off. I was in shock to dance with a cast member in that capacity. I was quick to direct attention to my friend who was a huge fan of his in which he had her dance with him as well and continued on to dance with fans through out the night.

I also got Melissa’d, or as I liked to say Mama Mcall’ed as she gave me kiss on the cheek and thanked me for being a sweetheart. Over all the cast were all genuinely sweet and happy to be with fans. They allowed themselves to be personal with fans on a level you wouldn’t get at any other con.

A huge shout out and appreciation needs to be expressed to the lovely Howler Con staff and those behind the scenes. Howler was a huge success by their efforts and compassion for the fandom. Everyone I had pleasure to work along side as a volunteer were nothing but kind to me. I heard nothing but praise and gratitude for Howler Con. I never saw a single frown on a con goers face or hopes crushed. The Howler Staff and Cast Members made each fan feel appreciated and loved. So thank you to the Howler Con staff, to cast members; Melissa Ponzio, Tyler Hoechilin, Daniel Sharman, Siqua Walls, Ryan Kelley, Linden Ashby, and Shelley Hennig for the memories that will never be forgotten.

Howler Con ended on with an announcement of Howler 2016 June 24th-26th and have already announced their first confirmed guest. None other than everyone’s favorite huntress, Allison Argent portrayed by the beautifully talented Crystal Reed.
